Those at the focus of the sanctions have supported a regime airline and a tech company.
The State Department announced new sanctions against six entities and individuals in China, India, Russia, and Iran accused of supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) logistics network. The sanctions are directed at those supporting the IRGC’s airline, Mahan Air, that moves weapons, military personnel, and equipment, and the IRGC-affiliated front company, DadeNegar Startup Studio, that supports Iranian military targeting by soliciting locations of American and Israeli equipment in the Middle East.
State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said, “The United States calls on the international community, particularly companies and individuals doing business with Mahan Air or any other sanctioned Iranian carrier, to recognize the serious risks raised by continuing such engagement.”
Spokesperson Pigott continued, “The United States will continue to expose and disrupt entities providing the IRGC with the tools and information it uses to threaten American personnel, our partners, and regional stability.”
